maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services to customers across commercial
aviation (~45% of revenue), business and general aviation (~50%), and military
(~5%) end markets globally. Under CEO John Cuomo’s leadership, VSE has been
transformed into its current form through 11 aerospace acquisitions and three
divestitures. Today, the company generates all of its revenue from the aerospace
aftermarket, with its business split between Distribution (~40% of revenue) and
Repair (~60%), and approximately half of total revenue tied to engine-related
aftermarket activity. VSE’s capabilities span wheels, tires, brakes, engines, engine
components and accessories, and avionics. In our view, the company’s competitive
advantage lies in its integration of technical parts distribution, component MRO, and
Morgan Stanley does and seeks to do business with
proprietary OEM-licensed manufacturing, supported by a high proportion of companies covered in Morgan Stanley Research. As a result,
exclusive distribution agreements.
