The Japan Aluminium Association (JAA) released June statistics for rolled aluminum +81 3 6703 1198
products on 29 July. Flat-rolled product shipment volume was up 10.3% y-y. This marks
the first time that single-month shipment volume has risen by more than 10% since
November 2021. Shipments of automotive materials were weak, falling 7%, but other
products performed well. Shipment volumes of can materials were up 14%. Shipment
volumes of products other than can materials and automotive materials were also up 14%,
marking a fourth straight month of double-digit growth. Exports were up 12%, and
shipments for SPE applications also rose. Shipment volumes for applications other than
can materials and automotive materials reached 49,000t in June, the highest for a single
month in the four years since June 2022 (Figures1–10).
Flat-rolled products (2): Apr–Jun shipments up 6% y-y
Shipment volumes of flat-rolled products were up 6% y-y in Apr–Jun, with a 2% increase
for can materials, a 6% decline for automotive materials, and a 12% increase for other
