GWM Meeting Takeaways: Scaling Up Amid
Intensifying Chinese OEM Competition in Brazil
Today we hosted a meeting with GWM’s Brazil representatives Andre Leite, Latin American Transportation
ACProduct Director and Zeca Chaves, Head of Communication. The main takeaways Guilherme Mendes
were: (i) Competition is intensifying as more Chinese OEMs expand in Brazil, with (55-11) 4950-4105
the market remaining particularly tight in the high-end segment (R$200–250k+ guilherme.g.mendes@jpmorgan.com
price point). (ii) GWM continues to leverage a centralized pricing strategy to Julia Orsi
preserve profitability in Brazil and protect its brand positioning, and does not view (55-11) 4950 3351
market share as its ultimate goal in the country. (iii) OEMs with local production julia.orsi@jpmorgan.com
are expected to have a structural advantage versus peers with a more limited Latin America Capital Goods
footprint in Brazil. In this context, GWM is reinforcing its positioning by Marcelo Motta AC
expanding domestic capacity, including the recent announcement of a second (55-11) 4950-6712
production plant. We view Brazil Car Rental players currently trading at 6.9x P/E marcelo.g.motta@jpmorgan.com
12M Fwd, and Brazil Auto Parts trading at 4.4x EV/EBITDA 2027e. Jonathan S. Koutras
