Weak month (PIF and margins) from Progressive in an otherwise solid

quarter. The challenge with monthly results is the vacuum created by lags

with benchmarks we might use to validate whether variances are noise or Buy

signal. With respect to the underlying loss ratio this month (up 610 bps vs. Price (14 Jul 26 16:00) US$226.58

520E bps), we would like to see non-cat flood and miles statistics before

Target price US$261.00reacting (since this is normally a seasonally-weaker month, and we have

seen noise before). We note that YTD rate decreases total ~300 bps which, Expected share price return 15.2%

in a relatively flat PIF month, explains any premium/policy decline almost Expected dividend yield 4.9%

entirely. We are encouraged by higher G&A, which should benefit retention

Expected total return 20.0%and new business on a lagged basis. We are adjusting EPS estimates
