COMMODITIES - Oil up after attack on Qatari LNG vessel in Hormuz

- American officials said that Iranian forces struck two ships sailing through the Strait of Hormuz. Reports suggest that both

vessels suffered significant damage. The Qatari-owned Al Rekayyat LNG carrier, which had been travelling without its

transponder on, was reportedly struck early this morning

- The Al Areesh, a loaded LNG tanker heading toward the Strait of Hormuz and signalling Pakistan’s Port Qasim as its

destination, appears to have U-turned in the Persian Gulf, based on Bloomberg-compiled ship-tracking data. Bloomberg’s data

indicates Al Areesh was loaded with LNG from Qatar and turned around earlier on Tuesday.

- Israel dismissed Hamas’s announcement that it would hand over some of its powers to run Gaza to an American-backed body.

The militant group said it had disbanded its administrative arm, but did not commit to disarmament—which America and Israel

have called for. An Israeli official said the move had “no meaning” because members of Hamas “remain in their position” in

government

- The amount of crude oil held around the world on tankers that have been stationary for at least a week rose to more than 1121m

bbls as of last week, BBG reports citing Vortexa
