The FDA issued a supplemental approval to Vertex Pharmaceuticals (covered by

Terence Flynn) for Casgevy for patients aged 2 years and older with either sickle cell

disease (SCD) with recurrent vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs) or transfusion-dependent

β thalassemia (TDT) (press release), previously approved for patients aged 12 years

and older. Vertex submitted for supplemental approval of Casgevy in ages 5 to <12
