Latin America Airlines

Weekly Capacity Scheduling Tracker (June-19)

CITI'S TAKE

Filipe Nielsen AC

This is our tracker to assess how airlines in Latin America are allocating +55-11-4009-5213

capacity over the coming months, highlighting changes in flights and seat filipe.nielsen@citi.com

offerings on a weekly basis. This week, although Aeromexico made further

cuts on international routes, adjustments looked more positive overall,

especially ahead of September, with LATAM slightly reversing its meaningful

cuts from the past two weeks while Copa increased its already strong

growth plans. With the ongoing fuel price moderation, it’s possible that

we’re close to an inflection in carriers’ capacity trims. More details are

discussed below. Detailed charts are in the note.

Copa — This week’s adjustments were concentrated from September onward, with

36 flights added in September representing an increase of +1.3% in capacity y-o-y

growth planned for the month. Incremental flights were scheduled to connect

destinations in Venezuela and the Caribbean to the Panama City Hub. Capacity

growth remains strong in 2Q and 3Q.

LATAM Airlines — After two weeks of significant net cuts in capacity plans, LATAM

slightly increased its planned growth throughout the network, mainly for 3Q.

Adjustments in Brazil domestic combined mild growth cuts of -0.6% in July with

mild increases of +0.2% in August and +0.3% in September. There were no

significant changes in domestic SSC, while international had mild adds mainly in

July and September, concentrated in and out of Brazil markets.

Aeromexico — Aeromexico’s changes were concentrated on international markets
