BCRA Reform: A potential turning point for banks

President Milei proposed reform of the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA;
Ambito, 7/31) as an attempt to permanently separate monetary policy
from fiscal financing. Core proposals: (1) restoring a single primary

The BCRA reform is also presented as part of a broader package that includes a
"fiscal lock" ("grillete fiscal") intended to prevent persistent fiscal deficits, along with
reforms to capital markets and the insurance sector. While passage is uncertain and
