Mitsubishi Electric announced on July 22 that it has signed a strategic collaboration Ryo Harada

agreement with Sony Semiconductor Solutions, a subsidiary of Sony Group (covered Goldman Sachs Japan Co., Ltd.
by analyst Minami Munakata), which includes the establishment of a joint venture, Hiroki Muramatsu

(investment ratio: Mitsubishi Electric 60%, Sony Semiconductor Solutions 40%).
Mitsubishi Electric has been driving the digitalization of its FA business, and it has
considered the sensor domain to be a missing piece in its strategy. Through the JV,
the company aims to develop vision sensor solutions that leverage AI-based analysis
of visual data on the image sensor, and enable real-time sensing of the status and
positioning of products and components on manufacturing lines. As such, we believe
this represents a significant move toward filling in Mitsubishi Electric’s strategic
gap. Mitsubishi Electric acquired Nozomi Networks in September 2025, opening
the way for it to obtain factory-wide data. Integrating these various data
streams has the potential to broaden the value it can provide to customers. We
look for concrete products and solutions to be presented in the future that will
