Fuji Electric (6504.T) - Fair Trade Commission conducts on-site inspection of

food distribution business

On July 14, Yomiuri Shimbun and other media outlets reported that the Japan Fair

Trade Commission conducted on-site inspections at Fuji Electric and two other

companies. Subsequently, the company disclosed that it had indeed been

inspected. According to the media reports, the three companies are suspected of

violations of the Antimonopoly Act (unreasonable restraint of trade) by repeatedly

coordinating bids (commonly known as bid-rigging) for refrigerated and frozen

showcases for Seven-Eleven Japan. While sales to convenience stores in Fuji

Electric food distribution business total c¥40bn (FY3/26), we believe the firm’s

main Seven-Eleven Japan business is in counter fixtures & fittings. We view the

direct impact as limited, but any impact on the Seven-Eleven Japan counter

fixtures business would be a concern. We await further updates. Even if the
