Taiwan tech June sales - assuming solid progress in Japan components
sector too
CITI'S TAKE
We monitor monthly trends at 82 Taiwan tech companies related to the
electronic components sector. Aggregate June sales were +51.7% YoY and
+7.7% MoM. April-June cumulative sales were +41.5% YoY and +16.2% Takayuki NaitoAC
QoQ. We sense performance versus initial guidance was favorable across +81-3-6776-4644
the sector, with AI server-related sales continuing to exceed expectations takayuki.naito@citi.com
alongside broad strength in industrial equipment, consumer electronics,
smartphones and other areas. Sales of lead frames, which we monitor as a
leading indicator for general component demand, continue to bottom out.
While some of this may already be reflected in share prices, we think the
solid progress and forward outlooks could drive further upside.
Leadframe-related — We focus on leadframe demand trends as a leading indicator
for semiconductor and general-purpose electronic component demand. Combined
sales for three leadframe-related companies (Chang Wah Technology, Jih Lin
Technology, SDI) were +37.9% YoY/+4.1% MoM. We see the MoM growth as positive
for Mitsui High-tec and Rohm.
Laptops and data centers — Combined sales at five notebook PC/server-related
companies (Acer, Compal, Inventec, Quanta, and Wistron) were +69.2% YoY/+19.4%
MoM. Combined sales for data center-related companies (Wiwynn and Aspeed)
were +30.2% YoY/+30.1% MoM. Sales at three package-related companies
(Unimicron, Kinsus, and Nan Ya) were +38.0% YoY/+4.9% MoM. Unimicron’s April-
June sales were up around 14.5% QoQ.
