Brazilian MoF announces final stages for debt renegotiations in rural loans (Estadao,
Jul 9)
Brazil’s Finance Minister Dario Durigan said the government is in the final stages of
preparing a provisional measure (MP) to renegotiate rural debt, a program that could
cover more than R$100 billion in agricultural loans while costing the Treasury an
estimated R$2–3 billion per year. The proposal is designed primarily to support
farmers who can prove significant losses from extreme weather events, offering up
to 10 years for repayment with a two-year grace period, while also extending relief to
