• Incoming June reports have tempered our perception of upside momentum in

the US economy with lower-than-expected June job gains and a sharp

widening in the May advance trade deficit. But demand momentum remains

solid in both business and consumer spending indicators.

• The consumer appeared most vulnerable to a softening as we move through

2Q26. But a strong May real PCE gain has been followed by Chase Card data

tracking a 0.5% rise in total PCE last month.
