Germany reveals reform accelerating grid build-out and new data center legislation

Germany has revealed a package including reforms to distribution grids and data

centers. The government intends to launch a distribution network package by the end of

the year to accelerate network expansion, promote modernization and digitalization,

and improve financing options. Reforms also included adjustments to the smart meter

targets with the country now targeting that by the end of 2030, the rollout for all

relevant metering points to be over 90 percent complete. Lastly a central data platform

with data on grid expansion, grid utilization, and grid connection capacities will be made

available. In terms of Data Centers, the reform allows for changes in the allocation rules

for local business taxes intended to accelerate the build-out. Source: Press Release

Engie signs a ten-year agreement for 625 MWh of battery storage in Spain

Engie and Ignis have signed a long-term flexibility purchase agreement that includes

several battery energy storage system (BESS) projects located in different parts of Spain,
