Databricks AI Summit: Accelerating Beyond The Lakehouse
CITI'S TAKE
We attended the Databricks Data+AI Summit and Investor Day this week,
where CEO Ali Ghodsi outlined Databricks' move toward a full-stack data
platform. A rapid product release cadence across the conference expands
Databricks focus beyond traditional data warehouse/data lake peers, Tyler RadkeAC
further into transactional database, CDP, streaming, analytics and +1-415-951-1660
security/SIEM, especially with Panther Labs acquisition. The financial tyler.radke@citi.com
momentum and customer + partner checks validated accelerating
Yitchuin Wong momentum for Databricks and broader Data/AI category within software,
with greater workload consolidation, accelerating user growth and rising +1-415-658-4236
yitchuin.wong@citi.com strategic importance as AI adoption scales. We see positive read-throughs
across the ecosystem, including for MSFT, PLTR, SNOW, and MDB, as AI- Peter Griffith
driven data spend continues to expand. peter.griffith@citi.com

Customer Checks - We connected with 6 customers and 6 partners out at the event andrew.girard@citi.com
that highlighted ramping Databricks adoption replacing legacy systems (such as
MSFT SQL Server, on-prem Hadoop) and strong interest and early usage of Genie.
System integrator checks highlighted the increasing strategic importance of the
data layer, with one large SI noting Snowflake and Databricks were the fastest
growing practices (along with AI Labs) both doubling YoY in terms of
resourcing/business trends. At the same time, cost optimization is becoming more
visible in customer conversations.
