Strait of Hormuz: Hormuz attacks intensifying

Three vessels, including a Qatari LNG carrier and a Saudi crude oil tanker, were attacked in the

Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, marking the most serious escalation since the US-Iran interim peace

agreement was reached last month. The incidents prompted regional naval forces to raise the

shipping threat level from "substantial" to "severe", underscoring the continued security risks in the

region. The attacks have renewed concerns over the reliability of oil and LNG exports from the Gulf,

despite US-assisted naval escorts and improving traffic following the ceasefire. As a consequence,

the US launched strikes on Iran and revoked sanctions easing, with more than 60 small Iranian

boats targeted and ~20 air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites

and anti-ship missile capabilities. The current escalation of attacks in the strait poses a risk for a

resumption of the conflict in the region.

ZIM: HLAG merger receiving more political opposition

The proposed merger between ZIM and Hapag-Lloyd has encountered growing political resistance

in Israel, where senior government officials have raised national security concerns. Prime Minister

Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz have stated that the government is prepared
