priced boats (greater than $150K) were transacting better than boats in the middle of that range. Consumers have begun to settle into
current pricing. There had been some uptick in used boat sales as of a few weeks ago. Similar to public company commentary, the expert
noted gas prices were not as great of an impact to boat sales but impactful for some boaters in terms of participation/usage. There was
positive expectation that with July 4th falling on a weekend, there may be higher sales activity over the holiday weekend.
Discover Boating satellite media tour: During the week of June 14th, Discover Boating (part of the National Marine Manufacturers
Association/NMMA) hosted dozens of television and radio interviews broadcast from HZO's Norwalk, CT location. A focus was to drive
consumers to boating, including via participation and ownership. Viewers were recommended to visit the discoverboating.com website.
We thought the interview we watched online (taken from a station in Hampton Roads, VA) was quite fair including reporter questions on
boating impact from gas prices, affordability, and needed skill set -- despite the chyron correctly noting a paid interview and the publicist
mentioning being at "the local [HZO] marina" which was not near Virginia. We would have liked to have seen some stats to support higher
boating participation due to "staycations" -- perhaps an opportunity for future PR efforts.
Health score index: NMMA also recently provided a webinar regarding the launch of a "health score index". Our impression is that the
index is geared to top of funnel efforts to drive consumer engagement in boating broadly, inclusive of boat show event attendance and online
search.
