Oil markets: US-Iran deal signing keeps prices under pressure Oil price (USD/bbl) Index development
Crude prices are lower Thursday morning, with Brent trading around the $78.50 level, down -$1,
following confirmation from Iran that it has signed the Islamabad MOU, in which the reopening
of Hormuz is a key part. Yesterday, the contract gained a modest + $0.59 to $79.55, snapping
four days of declines, somewhat of a relief rally after four days of intense selling. A thinly veiled
threat from President Trump that bombing may resume if Iran did not deliver on its part of the deal
provided a trigger for the rebound, which also drew support from a bullish EIA inventory report
showing US crude stocks continuing to fall sharply amid solid demand and high exports. Market
will now focus on tomorrow’s meeting in Switzerland where the US and Iran are expected to meet Natural gas prices (USD/MMBtu) Overview of performance
to sign the deal in person, as well as any sign of oil starting to move through Hormuz.
Vår Energi (Buy, NOK 48): Balder Next New Wells sanctioned
Vår Energi has taken FID on the Balder Next New Wells project, a seven-well tieback to the Jotun
FPSO with expected first production in Q4 2027. The project will develop 86 mmboe gross 2P
reserves, up from ~75 mmboe disclosed earlier this year, reflecting continued project maturation.
Project economics are strong, with a breakeven ~USD 30/boe and IRR >35%. The development
leverages the Jotun FPSO's available capacity and supports the planned decommissioning of the Nord Pool (EUR/MWh) 12m fwd. EV/EBITDA
Balder FPU from 2028, which will reduce unit opex and emissions.
