RBC Elements™: Australian Consumer Web TrafficRESEARCH Monthly
May-26: Web traffic remains healthy
Our view: May web traffic demonstrated strength with every major category in growth on the pcp. By
category, Autos/Outdoor/Home improvement was the best performing (+21% vs the pcp) followed by
Furniture, Homewares and Electronics (+18% vs the pcp). Amongst our coverage ASX-listed travel/retail
trading updates over the past month been mixed highlighting i) improved gross margins (KMD), new
vehicle supply constraints deferring sales timing (APE), soft bookings growth driven by the Iran conflictEQUITY
(WEB, FLT, WJL), strong growth in ex-Middle East booking volumes (SKO) and strong Australian sales
growth and margin expansion, partially offset by NZ weakness (KGN). Notwithstanding a mixed set of
results consumer discretionary has been the best performing sector over the past month (ASX-200 Cons.
Disc: +14.1% vs ASX-200: +3.2%) which indicates to us that investors may be positioning themselves for
a turnaround in the sector.
