Nordic High Yield Report: Maturing and Mispriced Key figures & indices

2026 already broke one record, more in sight Nordic HY issuance volume (NOKbn)

After a hesitant start to the year, Nordic high yield primary activity has rebounded sharply and is

again approaching the record pace seen in 2025. Year-to-date issuance has reached NOK 130bn,

making 2026 the second-strongest start to a year on record. The recent run-rate is now ahead

of last year’s level, leaving a new full-year issuance record clearly within reach. Some milestones

have already been set. PolarDC’s €800m transaction marked the largest Nordic HY bond issue

ever (Arctic as joint bookrunner) underlining both the scale and the international relevance of the

market. The issuer base also continues to broaden: non-Nordic issuers account for 51% of 2026

year-to-date issuance. At the same time, domestic-currency issuance continues to lose share,

with NOK representing only 7% of year-to-date volume (2025:12%) while SEK has declined 2

percentage points to 17%. For Nordic credit investors, EUR and USD exposure is increasingly

-----

becoming a core part of the investable universe.

High Yield is tight – but the Nordic market looks cheap

Spread indicies (bps)

Global high yield markets have recovered from the recent geopolitical sell-off, and spreads are

once again close to historical lows despite persistent inflation concerns, fragile energy markets and

elevated geopolitical risk. On a fundamental basis, international HY looks increasingly expensive:

investors are receiving historically low compensation per unit of leverage, while macro risks have

not disappeared.
