Oil markets: Prices fall back as strikes halted Oil price (USD/bbl) Index development
Crude prices are lower Tuesday morning with Brent 1 mth down -$0.75 to $93.50. The drop is
extending a decline that began yesterday afternoon after President Trump said that Iran and
Israel had agreed to stop attacking each other and that talks between the US and Iran were
ongoing. Earlier in the day, prices had rallied sharply after Iran and Israel exchanged missile
attacks. While Brent closed the day with a gain of +$1.14 to $94.25 it was well off its intraday
high of $98. The ceasefire situation remains fragile as Israel said it would continue its campaign
in Lebanon uninterruptedly, something Iran said would make it resume its attacks. In addition, the
Houthis in Yemen said they would ban any Israeli maritime navigation in the Red Sea, adding a Natural gas prices (USD/MMBtu) Overview of performance
further element of risk to the region. Separately, Ukraine drone targets again struck Russian oil
infrastructure at Novorossyisk on the Black Sea, potentially disrupting refining and exports. The
strike came amid comments from the Kremlin in recent days that its crude oil production was
falling and that it was suffering from gasoline shortages in some regions. On the fundamental front,
China’s crude imports in May plunged to 7.8 mbd, down a further 1.6 mbd from April and -3.2 mbd
(30%) from May 25. It was the lowest import level since 2017. News headlines are expected to
continue to drive trading while the market awaits the monthly report from the EIA and the weekly
data from the API. Nord Pool (EUR/MWh) 12m fwd. EV/EBITDA
