Alphabet Inc. - Class A "I/O 2026 - GenAI Monetization beyond Cloud & Search"
it would add ~$4.2B of incremental revenue. Although unlikely to result in
material EPS revision for 2026 / 2027 estimates, we think this adds to signals of
GenAI investments driving monetization beyond just Search and Cloud.
Launched an AI agent called Gemini Spark that can perform tasks across
connected Google apps and Chrome and will first be rolled out to trusted testers
starting today. Notably several "information agents" can be spun up
simultaneously, allowing repeat tasks to be managed and agents will be able to
monitor and provide updates on longer-horizon queries. The agentic experiences
will also be made available in AI Mode in Search and the Gemini app globally with
Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US gaining beta access starting next week.
UBS View: We found the Spark (and more broadly Information Agents)
demonstrations impressive and think this puts Google squarely in competition
with Meta AI and ChatGPT to capture agentic mindshare (which emerging
debate suggests could be different from and potentially cannibalistic to search
and social share). Given that advertisers are just beginning to test agentic ads,
this creates a comparable avenue for Google to pitch to advertisers. Our ad
checks often mention that search budgets are at the efficient frontier for the
largest advertisers, and Spark opens up a new avenue for Google to drive
wallet capture.
Several new upgrades and expansions to the Gemini app with the key ones being:
1) availability of Gemini Spark in the app, and 2) a personalized morning digest
called Daily Brief that gathers updates from a user's connected apps (incl.
urgent Gmail updates, tracks upcoming Calendar events) and is being rolled out
