Autodesk: Durable advantages in an agentic AI world; Reinstate with Buy and $300 PO

Key Autodesk debates and our view

Key debates around management guidance and financials

What drove the Q4 billings strength?

The 33% billings growth in 4Q26 versus Street’s prior 20% estimate was partially

bolstered by mechanical factors, including the shift to annual billing and the new

transaction model, as well as easier comps following prior-year disruption. Within the

quarter, demand was solid across AEC/Construction, emerging markets, and data center

related demand (hyperscalers). Looking at FY27, we expect these billings tailwinds to

materially fade, with management guidance for adjusted billings growth of 8.5% YoY

converging toward adjusted revenue growth of 9.5%, even as underlying renewal

visibility (including large EBA cohorts) remains healthy. Our model calls for 9.7% billings

growth on a reported basis in FY27, largely in line with Street expectations, though we

are directionally cautious on elevated go-to-market risks and downstream impacts from

macroeconomic sensitivities related to geopolitical tensions.

What’s the setup for FY27?

On one hand, we believe FY27 guidance for billings growth in constant currency (CC) at

8-9% YoY sets a solid starting point to the year, with appropriate levels of conservatism

that should lead to upside if a strong execution trend from 4Q continues. On the other

hand, the sales force restructuring adds near-term execution friction even as underlying

renewal visibility (including large EBA cohorts) remains healthy, with expected billings

disruption in 1H27. In addition, NRR should normalize from above 110% toward the 100-

110% range as the transaction-model boost rolls off.

How should we interpret prudence in guidance for FY27 vs. FY26?
