Apr-26: the UK and EU continue to sustain growth while the US remained weak
Global auto sales continue to reflect subdued trends as the growth in the EU and UK was dragged
lower by the weakness in the US. US demand remained impacted by higher fuel cost and weaker
consumer sentiments, which fell further in Apr. UK reported strong growth of c24% y-y led by a soft
base. EU sales increased by c5% y-y with premium outpacing the mass segment. The BEV growth
trend improved in the UK, China (Mar-26) & Germany, declined in France and flattish in the US.
Leading lateral data trends: sharp contraction in the EU and the UK consumer sentiments
Consumer sentiment trends, a lead demand indicator, contracted sharply across geographies,
raising a demand risk in the coming months.
