China has sought to build its own chips and AI models such as DeepSeek that do

not rely on Nvidia, while local companies have also been slowed by US restrictions,

reinforcing the point that the global AI race is still being decided at the hardware

layer, though that does not change the fact that demand for compute is outpacing

supply and that the largest hyperscalers are still leaning into the buildout. In our
