Refreshed Regional Bank Promo-CD and Online Savings Accounts Rate

Tracker

CITI'S TAKE

From our Regional Bank CD deposit tracker refresh (last updated

7/30/26), there continues to be a divergence in CD rate strategies. For the

first half of August, three companies BKU, COLB, and UMBF worked rates

up while VLY worked rates down. We highlight BANC, ZION, FLG, EWBC,

and HOMB as leaders with respect to rate compression since September.

For the third quarter, of the ones that have adjusted their CD promo rates,

the average movement is +21 bps higher since the end of June. Cumulative

betas on high-yield savings accounts range from 57-97% with Buy-rated

CFG at the high-end, capturing almost a full 100% beta on their OSA

accounts cycle-to-date. OSA rate offerings are converging towards

300bps and FCNCA is the notable exception with the highest-rate

offering at 3.65% APY (unchanged since Nov '25).

Sourcing Data — To source the data, we prioritized the most appealing rate (i.e.,

highest rate juxtaposed against duration; max 12 months – when possible) via the

bank’s website, called local branches, and assumed a $25,000 minimum opening

(where possible).

Couple of Things to Note — PNFP did not market any rates online and would not

provide a promotional rate over the phone (all rates are customized to each

relationship). FHN offers different promotional CD rates depending on the location

and we called different branches across the nation to gather this information. Based

on our conversations, a 7-month promo CD with a 3.65% APY is available in

Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville, a 7-month promo CD with a 3.70% APY is

available in North Carolina, and a 7-month promo CD with a 3.80% APY is available

in South Florida. While the initial 50bps cut in September (2024) drove a material

shift lower within the space, there appears to be a divergence in timing and

magnitude of CD rate compression. For the first half of August, BKU increased rates

to 3.95% from 3.85% (term unchanged at 12-Mos), COLB increased rates to 3.60%
