Aldi the only one of the UK's six largest supermarkets to lower ASP in 2Q. The Grocer

reported yesterday, citing Worldpanel data, that Aldi was the only one of the UK’s six largest

supermarkets to record a decline in average unit prices in Q2 2026. Aldi’s average unit price fell

from £1.59 in Q1 to £1.57 in Q2, extending a downward trend since late 2025, while prices at

Tesco, Sainsbury’s, ASDA, Lidl and Morrison increased after earlier declines. The report said Aldi

has invested heavily in price cuts and recently began supplying stores from a new 1.3m sq ft

automated distribution centre in Leicestershire, supporting its strategy of driving volume-led

growth despite a slight decline in market share to 10.8% over the past year.

Kiabi to enter Argentina with $20m store rollout plan. French value fashion retailer Kiabi will

enter Argentina on 11 August with the opening of a 1,500 sq m store in central Buenos Aires,

supported by a $20m investment plan over the next five years, reported bne IntelliNews

yesterday, citing La Nación. The expansion, led by local partner Grupo One, targets 10 stores

within two to three years and up to 20 locations longer term, with a second store planned in

Rosario later this year. Kiabi expects the investment to create around 300 direct and 100 indirect

jobs and plans to launch an e-commerce platform to support an omnichannel strategy. The

move marks Kiabi’s entry into its second South American market and adds to a growing list of

international fashion brands expanding into Argentina.
