Mixed 2Q: EPS beat, but this came largely on reserve release.

PPOP missed MSe by 3% amid softer NIM & higher expenses.

Loan growth remains the key “show me” for 2H, as growth is

lagging peers. We raise 2026e EPS slightly, but cut 2027/28e by

~1% on higher expenses.

• 2026 EPS guidance slightly higher at the low end of the range, but

suggests 2H PPNR trends weaker than we thought. FY26 guidance was

improved slightly, with low end of the EPS range up 15c to $9.25-9.50.

However, in light of this quarter's large (-$163M vs MSe of +$114M) reserve

release beat, the guide implies our 2H26E operation estimates were too

optimistic. As a result, we've lowered our 3Q/4Q26e EPS by 11%/5% (30c/8c)

to $2.30/$2.26, now 11%/4% below consensus. Most of this comes on a

weaker NIM trajectory, now exiting the year at 15.7%, with expenses also

moving slightly higher. We assume opex in 2H will be ~$5M higher than 1H,
