This note reviews sales trends of Japanese food manufacturers in the U.S. market based Japan

on retail scanner data provided by NielsenIQ. Due to constraints on the data provider Food & Beverage

side, we were unable to obtain channel data covering the same scope as in the previous

report, and therefore changed the coverage universe. The target channel is AOC (all ManabuResearch SumogeAnalyst >>

outlets combined, including convenience stores), excluding club stores (including Costco), BofAS Japan

Two-week data through Jun 13 show that sales momentum for Japanese companies

slowed slightly. Kikkoman’s soy sauce sales rose 3–5%, with growth moderating

somewhat. Kewpie continued to show strong sales growth momentum in mayonnaise. In

instant noodles, Japanese manufacturers continued to deliver price-led sales growth,

while volumes declined. Korean manufacturers continued to post sales growth supported
