cash flow growing faster than revenue and leverage trending lower. From a relative value
perspective, we see the bonds as attractive, trading wide to BBs despite improving credit
metrics and secured position, and recommend buying the bonds across the curve as
spreads compress toward higher-quality retail peers with continued execution.
Carter’s (CRI): Fundamentally neutral view, bond valuations screen as fair / cheap. We
view Carter’s as a fundamentally solid, category-leading children’s apparel platform with
strong brand equity, replenishment-driven demand, and ample liquidity, but near-term
earnings visibility remains limited. The 2026 setup is heavily dependent on a back-half
recovery, while tariff pressure, wholesale softness, private-label competition, and
declining birth rates remain meaningful headwinds. At ~178bp OAS, the 2031 notes appear
fairly valued: the bonds still price some downgrade risk and trade wide to certain apparel
peers, but we believe that is justified until the earnings inflection becomes more tangible.
