parts). The additional sensors also allow for more functionality such as the measurement

According to experts, US AMI adoption in gas utilities is still in the early stages as utilities …but for now hard to justify full
struggle to justify the business case for full AMI deployment over AMR. In contrast to deployment
electricity meters which typically require a full meter replacement, gas (and water, for the
matter) can be retrofitted with communication modules.
Where there is a longer term growth opportunity driven by gas consumption related to
data centers (gas power plants), the revenue upside for gas meter suppliers is hence
more related to upselling higher-value products and software per end point, and not
necessarily tied to the number of metering end points.
