GM IR Post-2Q26 Group Meeting Takeaways July 22, 2026
The Wolfe Byte
We hosted a group meeting w/ GM investor relations post Q2 print to dig into the 2H / 2027 outlook - pricing
appears to be largest NT lever for revenue, earnings, & FCF growth next year despite ongoing commodity/DRAM
concerns; incremental pickup volumes coming in 2028+.
We hosted GM head of IR Ashish Kohli and his team today for a group meeting with investors, and discussed its
just-reported 2Q, ~$0.5B FY26 guidance raise, and constructive initial 2027 framework. Key messages: GM is laser
focused on optimizing its vehicle pricing. Commodities are tracking neutral-to-slightly-better vs. the 1Q-call baseline,
with contract lags pushing relief to 4Q/1Q27; 2027 costs will be up again, but more than offset by other tailwinds.
Mgmt. expects a strong 3Q26 and pre-flagged a deliberately soft 4Q (truck changeover). 2027 was framed as a year
of growth in revenue, margin, EBIT, and EPS, driven by multi-year tailwinds, more than offsetting commodity/DRAM
inflation. Largest 2027 opportunity is pricing gains in new pickup trucks; incremental truck volume is 2028+.
Pricing & Competitive Discipline
●Stable 2H pricing in the 2026 guide: 1H saw ~$600M of YoY benefit from MY26 increases taken last fall; the
2H benefit is smaller, largely in 3Q, as increases are lapped by 4Q. The implied FY total (~0.5% on ~$150-160B
revenue) is ~$800M – “not a heroic effort” in 2H with $600M already booked. July-to-date pricing runs consistent
with 1H.
●On Stellantis discounting, GM is particularly focused on optimizing pricing and will not blindly match – a rival’s
$1,000 on the hood might draw a $100-200 response. Mgmt. could accept modest share loss (down ~60 bps
