The London Stock Exchange announced plans this morning to launch LSE 24, a new 24/5

trading venue designed to support digital, algorithmic and agentic trading (click here for press

release). The venue is expected to begin client testing by year-end 2026, with ETPs targeted

as the initial asset class in 1H27, subject to regulatory approval. LSE 24 will operate separately

from the Exchange's Main Market and is intended to provide investors with near-continuous

access to public markets throughout the trading week.

At first glance, the announcement may appear to be principally about market hours. However,

we believe the more noteworthy aspect is what the initiative may signal about the future

direction of capital markets infrastructure. In particular, LSEG indicated that LSE 24 will

leverage its forthcoming Digital Securities Depository (DSD), which is being developed

to support the digitization of issuance, settlement and asset servicing. LSEG stated that

the DSD is intended to expand across asset classes over time and support broader market
