Canada to join GCAP as an observer

Canada joins GCAP, the British-Italian-Japanese effort to build a sixth-gen fighter jet, as an observer, gaining access to

program information but with no financial commitment or industrial workshare. While it signals potential deeper involvement

later, we do not see it threatening the near-term fighter decision, where Canada is moving toward a mixed fleet option, with

a reported ~30 F-35s plus ~60 Gripen E cited as the emerging preferred outcome, given GCAP's service entry is 2035+ at

the earliest and Canada already has a fifth-gen F-35 commitment.
