We think the biggest important updates came from Capcom, Sega SammySenior Analyst:
Holdings and Square Enix Holdings. In line with our expectations, CapcomYasuo Nakane
officially unveiled its first major paid DLC for Monster Hunter Wilds (MHWs)+81 3 6202 8124
yasuo.nakane@mizuho-sc.com titled Ascendance and set to release in 2027. Capcom also announced that it is
currently working on bringing MHWs to the Nintendo Switch 2. Plus, Capcom
unveiled Resident Evil Veronica (multi-platform, including Switch 2) with a
2027 launch window, which we think constitutes a surprise.
While sales of MHWs got off to a strong start, thereafter the game reviewed
poorly and repeat sales were sluggish mainly due to a mix of optimization
issues for the PC version and complaints from the franchise’s core player base
about content volume (i.e., difficulty). Player sentiment around MHWs has
improved considerably, but we think there remain a number of concerns about
the aforementioned major paid DLC.
