Key trends by company

For three home improvement centers and furniture stores under our coverage

in June, same-store sales were down 13.2% (customer traffic down 11.5%,

average customer spending down 1.9%) at Nitori (Nitori Holdings), down

10.7% (down 9.8%, down 1.0%) at DCM Holdings, and down 2.8% (down

7.4%, up 5.0%) at Komeri. Nitori saw solid sales of home appliances and new

products such as flash toasters, shelf desks, and recovery wear, but sales

turned downward on lackluster trends in home fashion products and other

seasonal items. At DCM Holdings, air conditioner sales were solid ahead of

plans for tighter energy standards in 2027, but sales of summer products

outside of air conditioners were weak. Komeri also saw higher sales of air

conditioners and related products, but same-store sales turned downward for

the first time in four months due to weak sales of summer products.
