continue to gain share from factor VIII in the International market (i.e., exUS, EU and
Japan) despite patient conservatism (some believes that Hemlibra cannot protect them from bleeding as effectively as factor
VIII). They think that the drug pricing should not be an issue for the adoption as Roche lowers price in those markets.
• Roche’s updated mid-single-digit YOY growth of this year’s global Hemlibra sales is viewed as conservative as
acknowledged by Roche themselves, with the main overhang being Novo’s MIM8 (once-weekly, auto-injector) launch as
Hemlibra’s potential competitor.
• Chugai’s view is that MIM8’s efficacy and safety are broadly comparable to Hemlibra, with superior convenience of
autoinjector at launch (Hemlibra’s autoinjector is expected to come out later, the timeline has yet to be disclosed). They
noted that the drug does not have Hemlibra’s long-term safety track record. They do not expect large-scale switching of
existing Hemlibra patients to MIM8; competitive pressure should be limited within the new patient , limiting MIM8’s impact to
a manageable degree.
NXT007
• Management articulated the clinical value of NXT007 as its efficacy that is approximately equivalent to healthy human factor
VIII, addressing needs of those patients who still remain on factor VIII because Hemlibra does not have the level of protection
that factor VIII offers.
• Chugai expects three sources of business for NXT007:
• Factor VIII users switching to NXT007 for similar efficacy with greater convenience and the same level of efficacy. Today,
~50% of US/EU hemophilia A patients still on factor VIII, not on Hemlibra.
