On 22-Jul-2026, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced a 3-year, $60mn jon.windham@ubs.com

award to fund the Prometheus project, which aims to leverage AI to expedite nuclear +1-617-478-4711

Driving optimization with AI

According to Argonne National Lab (ANL), the Prometheus project aims to:

Cut design and licensing timelines by 10x

Cut manufacturing time by 3x

Reduce operating staff needs and overall deployment timelines by 50%

The project is a collaborative effort between major U.S. nuclear labs and industry

partners, including X-Energy (XE, Buy) and Oklo (OKLO, Neutral).

X-Energy (XE, Buy): In our view, XE remains the best positioned advanced

nuclear company given its leading funded status under the DOE's ARDP and significant

customer commitments from Dow and Amazon.
