Subsidies driving an increase in crop insurance demand and premium growth

The growth outlook in Crop insurance appears to be favorable per our speaker. The

primary driver behind the strong premium growth reported by major crop insurers in 1Q

2026 has been the significant increase in government subsidies for enhanced coverage

products, particularly ECO and SCO policies. Increased adoption has also been

supported by distribution incentives, as agent compensation on these products is

somewhat more attractive. Roughly 90% of his producer base purchased the enhanced

coverage option, allowing farmers to increase protection levels up to approximately

95% revenue coverage at a relatively low incremental cost. Importantly, the speaker

highlighted that many producers effectively reinvested savings generated from lower

premium costs on base policies into higher levels of protection. From an insurer

perspective, he believes these products are likely more profitable than traditional multi-

peril policies given their automated claims structure and limited adjustment expense

requirements. He also noted that increased adoption may continue into future years as

producers become more familiar with the economics of the coverage and receive greater

education regarding available products.

Broader crop insurance environment remains supportive, with limited

regulatory risk

Our speaker believes that the current US administration and Congress remain supportive

of crop insurance as a long-term risk management solution, suggesting the likelihood of
