• AB InBev commissions economic study on the social and economic impact
of bars (14th July 2026) | An Oxford Economics study commissioned by AB
InBev has assessed the social and economic impact of bars across Brazil,
Mexico, South Korea, the UK and the US, finding that 77% of respondents say
bars bring people together, 72% say they contribute positively to local
economies, and 69% say they help build social connections. Across the five
markets, the study estimates that bars support more than 2m jobs and contribute
about $126bn in gross value added, and 58% of respondents think local
governments should do more to support them.Link to Article.
• Diageo’s head of GTR outlines trends shaping whisky and tequila in travel

Andrew Cowan said whisky remains a core travel retail category in 2026, with
opportunities across both premium trade-up and entry-level discovery. He
emphasized that activations and immersive experiences are increasingly
important to win attention in busy duty-free environments, particularly for
younger shoppers seeking experimentation, cocktails and digital-first
engagement. On tequila, Cowan said the category continues to attract new,
increasingly knowledgeable travelers, and noted Diageo’s plan for more than
100 FIFA World Cup 2026-related airport activations across 34 airports to drive
