report, we revisit our reverse-dcf data for100 large- and mid-cap stocks identify sectoral
valuation dislocations relative to history.
This brings us to the question of where headline valuations stand today. When we published
our What’s Priced In? report in April, the Nifty 50’s implied growth expectation had
moderated to 10.5%, which we viewed as a valuation floor, with multiples having reverted
to levels last seen in March 2021. Since then, the market has rebounded from those
lows, lifting implied growth expectations modestly to 10.7%. While valuations are still
not demanding, they are no longer meaningfully cheap either, particularly against our
expectation of sub-10% earnings growth in FY27. We continue to see scope for a further
8–9% market upside. Beyond that, however, returns are likely to become more constrained,
as implied growth expectations would rise toward 11.5%—close to the levels reached
when the previous bull market phase peaked in 2024.
