NEE: Florida data center Project Tango denied. On Wednesday Palm Beach County Commissioners

voted 5-1 to deny Project Tango without prejudice. Commissioners cited unresolved concerns

around land-use compatibility, low-frequency noise, water consumption, traffic impacts, and the overall

lack of operating experience or independent expert testimony regarding hyperscale AI facilities. The

Palm Beach County Commissioners voted on July 7th 6-1 to establish a one-year moratorium on new

data center applications. Project Tango should not be impacted by the moratorium with its application

in process.

The Commission vote comes after the Palm Beach County Zoning Commission earlier this month

denied a revised application that would have expanded the currently approved site for ~two million

square feet of Economic Development Center uses and added ~1.5 million square feet to the overall

master plan.

The decision does not permanently kill the project, as the without-prejudice denial allows the developer

to return with a revised proposal, potentially incorporating additional studies, expert testimony, and

mitigation measures, although at the same time this could materially delay the project.

The Palm Beach County vote highlights growing political and community scrutiny around data center

developments across US. NextEra has identified data centers as a long-term driver of load growth in

Florida Power & Light's service territory and embeds future data center growth in its base growth plan. The
