This is our tracker to assess how airlines in Latin America are allocating +55-11-4009-5213
capacity over the coming months, highlighting changes in flights and seat filipe.nielsen@citi.com
offerings on a weekly basis. Adjustments were mixed this week. The
significant changes from LATAM and Aeromexico were positive and
reinforce our expectations for capacity growth recovery ahead, with
incremental seat offerings on international markets targeting mostly 4Q
capacity. On the other hand, Volaris’ changes were mostly negative and in
domestic markets, also concentrated in 4Q. More details are discussed
below. Detailed charts are in the note.
Copa — Changes in Copa’s schedule were mild but in a positive direction, with
adjustments concentrated in September and October. The carrier added two flights
in September and 10 in October, concentrated in Central American markets. Planned
capacity still reflects strong growth in 3Q and 4Q.
LATAM Airlines — Adjustments in Brazil domestic were small and concentrated in
3Q, with mild available seats increases by +0.4% in July and by +0.2% in September.
For Domestic SSC and International, scheduling changes were positive and
concentrated in Peru, with marginal domestic adjustments in July but significant
international seat additions (of +1.6%) in both November and December (focused on
US markets).
Aeromexico — Scheduling changes were positive and concentrated on the
international side. The company increased its November seat offerings by 1.1% by
inaugurating a Monterrey – Paris route, adding seats to the US and Chile, and
