adopt perturb-seq)
We conducted a survey (n=50) to better understand appetites in the sequencing
and single cell/spatial markets. Takeaways: 1) 10x remains dominant in single
cell/spatial and is best positioned to capture perturb-seq projects (20% will
adopt in future); 2) NovaSeq X has runway remaining from switches (34% will
transition from 6000 in a year) and 72% like the 18-month roadmap; and 3)
Roche Axelios features (chip re-use, speed) are less appealing than anticipated.

Background. We recently surveyed (n=50) lab managers responsible for purchasing sequencing
instruments and consumables for bulk NGS, single-cell and spatial analysis. The majority of Exhibit 2 - NovaSeq X adoption remains a
respondents came from biopharma (86%) followed by core labs (6%), CRO/CDMO's (4%) and multi-year replacement cycle, with meaningful
demand (34%) still aheadacademic labs (4%), with the total pool >$400M in annual sequencing budgets. Results were
collected from 6/24-6/30.
State of play in bulk NGS. ILMN maintains a significant edge in bulk NGS with 49/50 respondents
noting ownership of at least one instrument (61% listed NovaSeq as primary instrument). 34% of
respondents intend to migrate from NovaSeq 6000 to X in the next year, while 72% noted that ILMN's
18-month roadmap (higher output, Q70, staggered starts) increases the likelihood of remaining
on NovaSeq.
