EasyJet Agrees to Apollo’s £5.7B Takeover Bid. EasyJet agreed in principle to Apollo Global
Management’s £7.15 per share takeover proposal, valuing the airline at £5.7B and topping Castlelake’s
£6.90 per share proposal earlier this week. The bidding war highlights the value of EasyJet’s European
network, large fleet, constrained airport slots, and growing holidays business.
Iberia Maintenance Launches Dedicated Engine MRO Business. Iberia Maintenance is launching
IAG Engine Tech, a dedicated engine MRO business based at Iberia’s La Munoza facility in Madrid, to
expand CFM Leap maintenance capabilities after securing Premier MRO licenses earlier this year, with
first shop visits planned for Q1 2027, as the unit targets both group airlines and third-party customers
and builds on €1.05BB in 2025 engine maintenance revenue.
Saudia Cargo to Add Four 777-200 Freighters. Saudia Cargo will expand its dedicated freighter fleet
with four Boeing 777-200 aircraft, with the first delivery expected in 4Q26 and the remaining three
arriving through 2027. The additions support the carrier’s plan to double its cargo fleet and increase
capacity for e-commerce, exports and international freight, while providing Boeing with incremental
widebody freighter demand tied to Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 logistics ambitions.

China Eastern Airlines Begins Free Wifi Offering. Starting 7/3, China Eastern Airlines rolled out free
wifi across its WB fleet. The roll-out is tiered, with premium passengers getting faster wife suitable for
streaming and video calls, while premium economy and economy passengers get slower wifi, suitable
for texting and emails.
