Structural changes to AE15 Gemini service: Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd announced
a structural change to the AE15 service within their Gemini Cooperation, rerouting it
via the Suez Canal rather than around Africa’s Cape of Good Hope. The first sailing
under the new rotation will be the Majestic Maersk. The revised port rotation is:
Qingdao – Kwangyang – Ningbo – Tanjung Pelepas – Port Said – Damietta –
Colombo – Singapore. This follows the February 2026 transition of the ME11 service,
with AE15 now being the second Gemini service to return to the Red Sea corridor.
Maersk highlighted that the Suez route offers faster transit times and greater
operational efficiency compared to the Cape routing. Maersk noted that the Suez
Canal remains “the fastest, most sustainable and most efficient way to serve
customers with transport between Asia and Europe”. The company emphasised that
crew, vessel and cargo safety remain the highest priority. Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd
