BNDES broadens Climate Finance for industry and Reforestation
Eixos highlighted that BNDES has approved R$43.8 mn in financing for Ferbasa to
build a new charcoal production facility in Bahia, with technology designed to
reduce methane emissions compared to conventional processes. The project,
largely funded through the Fundo Clima, will produce renewable reducing agents
for Ferbasa’s metallurgical operations and is expected to create nearly 100 jobs.
Also, MegaWhat reported that BNDES is preparing a new R$6 billion carbon credit
auction aimed at supporting large-scale forest restoration projects and expanding
the country’s carbon removal market. Together, the initiatives reinforce the bank’s
growing role in financing both industrial decarbonization and nature-based climate
solutions.
Atlas Lithium advances Lithium project following key licensing milestone
Valor reported that Atlas Lithium has obtained the environmental license required
to expand its Neves lithium project in Minas Gerais, removing a key hurdle ahead of
the project’s planned startup in 4Q27. The company estimates annual production of
146 kt of lithium concentrate. Atlas also noted that its processing plant has already
arrived in Brazil and is ready for assembly, while offtake agreements with Mitsui
provide commercial support for future production.
Petrobras adjusts Diesel pricing following end of government subsidy
Eixos published that Petrobras will reduce the price of diesel A by R$0.3515/liter
starting July 1, while simultaneously suspending the application of the federal
subsidy granted under MP 1.358.
