Illegal immigration is in focus again this week, with a number of staged political
marches occurring in parts of the country, particularly in and around Gauteng. The
objective is to raise awareness of migration issues and enforce tighter controls on
inward flows. Quantifying the scale of the issue is highly complex. According to the
