Opportunity Set: Anduril and General Atomics
Win CCA Inc 1 EMD & Production
USAF awarded CCA Increment 1 EMD & production contracts to Anduril and
General Atomics, coming 4 mos ahead of schedule & signaling production
readiness. This supports the path forward to procure over 150 CCAs by the
end of the decade (& 1,000 over time). USAF also awarded mission autonomy
software production options to RTX Collins, Anduril and Shield AI to compete
over the next 6 mos w/ a final downselect to one by summer '27 for Inc 1
autonomy.
Anduril and General Atomics Selected For CCA Production. The US Air Force awarded both
Anduril and General Atomics engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) and production
contracts for Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) increment 1 based on their YFQ-44A and
YFQ-42A prototypes, respectively. The awards follow GA's FQ-42 first flight in Aug 2025 and
Anduril's FQ-44A first flight in Oct 2025. USAF awards are 4 mos ahead of schedule, signaling the
readiness of each company & supporting the plan to procure more than 150 CCAs by the end of
the decade. The contract covers the first three lots of CCA w/ more production contract awards
still to come for Inc 1. USAF notes the value is meeting/exceeding its goal of cost at 1/3rd of an
F-35 (<$30MM).
Anduril, RTX Collins, Shield AI Progress on CCA Mission Autonomy. As part of its new acquisition
approach for the program, USAF is treating mission autonomy software separate from the aircraft
itself and awarded production options to Anduril, Shield AI, and RTX Collins to continue competing
over the next 6 mos.
