Innovative Aerospace Summit: EHang Targeting
Pilotless eVTOL at Scale
We hosted Conor Yang, CFO of EHang, at our 4th Annual Jefferies Innovative
Aerospace Summit. Key takes include: 1) EHang is focused on autonomous,
pilotless eVTOLs; 2) EH216 has all certifications needed for commercialization;
3) China low-altitude economy could reach RMB 2 trillion by 2030; 4) capacity is
~1,000 units annually; and 5) Thailand commercial flights are targeted before
year-end, with Southeast Asia expected to follow thereafter.
EHang Background. EHang is a China-based advanced air mobility technology company building
an autonomous air mobility ecosystem, not just aircraft. The flagship EH216 is a two-seat,
autonomous passenger-carrying eVTOL with a compact 6x6 meter footprint, 620 kg total weight
with two passengers, and an overseas selling price of ~$410k. The portfolio also includes the VT35
long-haul model, logistics and emergency rescue applications, software, command and control,
fleet management, and operating infrastructure.
Pilotless Strategy Drives Differentiation. EHang’s core differentiator is its pilotless operating
model, which has been part of the strategy from day one. Among eVTOL companies applying
for type certification, EHang is positioned as the only company with a pilotless operation, which
could lower operating cost, improve scalability, and support a broader transportation network. The
compact, lightweight aircraft design is also intended to reduce infrastructure requirements and
accelerate practical deployment in urban air environments.
Certification Supports Commercial Readiness. The EH216 obtained its Type Certificate in October
